Video art has a long history. Today video art is ubiquitous, with the technology available in everybody’s hand. This exhibition provides a snapshot of a small number of Australian artists working creatively with this medium. The work in this exhibition is not TV. These videos are often slow in pace, abstract, poetic – or humorous with disjunctive narratives and replete with ethereal other worldliness.
On Saturday 1 February; Silo String Quartet, one of Australia’s leading classical quartets will be playing artist Mia Salsjo’s composition ‘Modes of Translation’ accompanying her video of the same name. The video and the score were premiered at the Havana Biennale in 2019.
Following this performance Silo String Quartet will be performing a concert of music by Joy Division and other 80s favourites.
