Sharing an update on my recent Budgie Life Painting workshop held at the Melton Library and Learning Hub as part of Seniors Week! This workshop was a special event designed to bring fun, creativity, and a bit of artistic adventure to the participants, most who hadn't painted since their high school days.
The Melton Library and Learning Hub, a state-of-the-art community center in the heart of Melton, provided the perfect setting. The bright and inviting space added to the positive energy that filled the room as seniors gathered, eager to capture the beauty of live budgies on canvas.
From the start, I set the tone with some pencil and paper warm-up exercises sparking laughter which relaxed everyone into a playful, creative mood. As we moved into painting, participants learned tips on using a limited colour palette and creating texture. We had live budgies as our models, adding an element of excitement and real-time observation that inspired some delightful and unique interpretations.
One participant remarked, “I haven’t laughed this much in ages!” Hearing this was such a joy, as it captured the essence of what the workshop was all about: bringing people together, sharing a laugh, and exploring art in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Thank you to everyone who joined me for this memorable session, and to the Melton Library and Learning Hub for hosting us in such a fantastic space. I look forward to more workshops and more moments of laughter and creativity with this wonderful community!
